Google wants to promote alternative access technologies in Mountain View
Another goal of Google's new WiFi network is to promote
alternative access technologies by using Mountain View as an
example for organizations considering investments in the Wi-Fi
arena. Google thinks successful mesh wireless deployments will
promote competition, create lower-cost access alternatives, and,
if done correctly, it will foster open, standards-compliant platforms
for content and service providers to showcase their applications
without the hassle of the traditional walled-garden approach.

SEM and corporate branding
Normally, lawyers can issue fancy memos on embossed stationery designed to force people
and media to always refer to a brand name as a registered trademark of the company.
They also instruct their advertising and branding agencies to avoid making creative uses and
plays on the name when it is used in commercials or general promotional copies of ads. If
a name is too playful then it also quickly becomes adopted in the language as a word like
rollerblade.

Google to compete directly against eBay?
One poster wrote, "I am a small time eBay seller, who wanted to "ramp up" my sales, and was
just gearing up to do so when ebay decided to "rebalance" their market place. I was squeezed
out. There is no way I could keep my little store open. HELP ME GOOGLE!" And a user with the
ID "eBaySlaveWorker" wrote a post called, "Please Google! Get this 800 pound gorilla monopoly
off our backs."
