Many Super Bowl advertisers dont't include their Web site address in TV spots
According to a Yahoo spokesperson, Cadillac, Honda and Dove all bid on the search term "Super Bowl" and took advantage of the search traffic. Searches on Yahoo for Cadillac Escalade jumped over 75 percent after the Super Bowl. Cadillac was able to engage those users by making sure its official site for the new Escalade was listed at the top of the sponsored search results. The number of advertisers that have ramped up post Super Bowl integrated search efforts still pales in comparison those that missed the boat. Reprise Media's annual Super Bowl scorecard (a report that evaluates the impact of search and television advertising activity) pointed out that many advertisers didn't even include site addresses in TV spots.

Yahoo's new My Web 2.0 interface
Now you can edit 20 bookmarks at a time. This is great for changing the tags on imported bookmarks. Another new feature is the option to search everybody’s tags. One of the main purposes of services like My Web 2.0 is sharing, and searching the tags of other users definitely improves sharing. In their blog, Yahoo promises to keep improving the sharing features. My Web to go is a new feature especially for bloggers. It’s a badge that lets you insert your most recently saved pages on your blogs. These new features are launched not long after Yahoo bought the hugely popular social bookmarking tool de.lici.ous.

"We saw an opportunity to be an early mover here," Weitz said. "We're making a major commitment to this because we believe there's deep demand here." In most cases, Google's products can be up and running and returning results in a matter of hours, but the company recognizes that it is going to take more work to get to the point where enterprise searches are as vigorous as the Google.com Web search, said Dave Girouard, general manager of Google Enterprise.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation isn't impressed with Google's security issues
Google said users can use a "Clear my Files" button to manually remove all files from its servers or a "Don't Search These Items" preference to remove specific files and folders from the software's index. But, the EFF isn't impressed, especially coming on the heels of what it calls "serious consumer concern about government snooping into Google's search logs." "It is shocking that Google expects its users to now trust it with the contents of their personal computers," said EFF staff attorney Kevin Bankston.

Google increases its dominance in the search world
Google remained the top search engine, and even increased its dominance, accounting for nearly 49% of all searches. Most of this gain came at the expense of MSN, which saw its search share decline from 14% to under 11%. Yahoo! essentially held steady. The three top sites handled over 81% of all searches.
