Google's Nathan Weinberg posts on InsideGoogle
Of course, Google moved the data into the U.S., where the
government is already famously trying to get access to search
history data. Techdirt suggests Google move the U.S. search
history data to China, while keeping the China data here, and just
hope that playing a game of hot potato will get everyone off their
back. I think Google’s government problems won’t be going away
anytime soon.

Yahoo can determine the exact location where a picture was taken
If a person uses Yahoo's ZoneTag with a Bluetooth GPS unit, then
the GPS coordinates of the image will be uploaded together with a
cell ID. This cell ID corresponds with the city, state and zip code
of those GPS coordinates so that Yahoo is able to determine the
exact location. After the caption has been provided, the images
are then sent to Flickr, Yahoo’s image sharing Web page.

Jambo enabling its search partners to proactively sell advertising
Once a merchant accepts a lead, Jambo automatically follows up
on behalf of the search partner that generated the call to sell
packages of leads. By tapping into a group of "self-selected"
merchants, Jambo is enabling its search partners to proactively
sell advertising to companies that already have received actual
leads -- reversing the traditional passive approach of waiting
for merchants to come to them. Jambo's system keeps track of which
companies want the phone leads and which don't -- based on the
percentage of calls each merchant answers, or doesn't.

Click fraud representing a growing problem for search advertisers
Lee believes that click fraud has grown somewhat, especially as
pay-per-click providers turn to smaller sites to grow their ad
networks, but also says providers have been taking the issue
seriously and are catching more of the fraud themselves. "In the
short term, while it may seem like the providers would benefit
from the additional clicks, that's far outweighed by the long-term
harm to their networks," Lee said. "They don't like it because it
annoys the marketers, who will then lower their bids or stop
spending money on contextual advertising."
