Google anticipates many exciting announcements on Friday at the CES show
A Google representative responded to an interview request by saying that the company anticipates "many exciting announcements" on Friday. (Larry Page, co-founder of Google, is scheduled to give a CES keynote at 4 p.m. PST on Friday.) According to a Jupiter Research survey, only one in four people were interested in downloading video via the Internet. Just 28 percent of poll participants between the ages of 18 and 24 had ever watched a video online. "It's safe to say that only a small minority of the population are doing anything with downloadable video," said Todd Chanko, a media analyst at Jupiter, adding that he had no reason to believe a surge of interest in downloadable video is just around the corner.

Study reveals that search and online advertising performs best
In the Internet Industry report, Rashtchy predicts that stocks in the Internet sector will bring returns over 20 percent for 2006, exceeding the 12-percent return of 2005. Within the sector, search and online advertising performed best, increasing by 23 percent for the year, and advertising services were up 18 percent. Google itself will be a factor in the growth of the overall industry, according to Rashtchy. "Google is pushing the industry to expand its offerings and create better versions of existing applications, creating a much more dynamic industry where innovation is pushing forward at much faster speed than the past few years," he wrote.

It could be an effort to deter spammers from listing bogus links in Craigslist in an effort to have those links followed by search engines. The delisting may also be an attempt to stop scraping of the sites content via bots which access cache pages of Craigslist from search engines, then reprint the content illegally on other sites.

Ford tries Google's AdWords advertising
I brought up the counterpoint that I’d rather buy an American made Mitsubishi than a Mexican made Ford, and that buying GM or Ford anymore is more or less supporting the unemployment of the American worker, and how most Japanese brands sold in the US are now manufactured Stateside by US employees, not to mention the differences in quality. Needless to say, I won the argument. Getting away from NAFTA and Big Auto controversies, Aaron has a nice little write up on the ad campaign.
