Google gets new patent to greatly improve its image and video search technology
Some interesting excerpts from Google's new patent are: 1) Digital images can now include a large assortment of content. As an example, digital photos or illustrations can depict landscapes, people, urban scenes and other related objects. Digital images often do include text, but were previously unavailable for search since it was impossible to index using older search technology. Digital images can be captured, for example, using cameras or digital video recorders. Image text typically includes text of varying size, orientation, color and typeface.
